MACOMB, ILLINOIS (September 15, 2026) — Western Illinois University (WIU) celebrated the ribbon-cutting for the new Goldfarb Center for Performing Arts on Tuesday, September 15, joined by students and the Macomb community.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (September 15, 2026) — Biannually, millions of birds make their way across the night skies of the Midwest in search of their migratory destinations.

This happenstance causes the birds to contend with our light pollution which can be disorienting, confusing, and exhausting for the birds on their already tiresome journey.

In our area, the highest nightly averages of migrating birds occur throughout the month of May.
