DES MOINES, IOWA (October 31, 2025) — Every October, Iowa Workforce Development (IWD) recognizes National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) to promote the many benefits that Iowa receives by supporting successful careers for individuals with disabilities.

This year, IWD and its Vocational Rehabilitation division are taking that recognition further by celebrating four Iowa employers who have shown a steadfast commitment to disability employment.

MOLINE, ILLINOIS (October 31, 2025) — The Vibrant Arena’s annual Christmas tree is scheduled to arrive this Monday, November 3 at approximately 11AM. The tree is being donated by David Criddle in East Moline, and was just a baby tree when his family moved to the property nearly thirty years ago. Media is invited and encouraged to attend as the tree is raised.

MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA (October 31, 2025) — While Halloween is traditionally one of the most dangerous nights of the year for both pedestrians and drivers, the risks are even higher this year. With the holiday falling on a Friday, AAA is warning of a hazardous mix: increased foot traffic from trick-or-treaters, more weekend parties, and a greater likelihood of driving impaired.

ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (October 31, 2025) — YWCA Quad Cities will host a community canned-food drive on Saturday, November 1, 12-3PM, at its Aquatic Center.

Guests are invited to bring a minimum of two non-perishable food items per person and will receive free admission to the YWCA’s indoor aquatic center.

Attendees can enjoy the slide, lazy river, rock-climbing wall, splash area, and more.

The event is open to the public; you do not need to be a member to participate.
