WASHINGTON – Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley today made the following statement regarding President Trump’s announced plans to suspend the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals executive order, or DACA.

DES MOINES (September 5, 2017) President Trump’s decision to end federal protection for a group of young immigrants threatens the well-being of our communities and runs counter to our best values, according to a Quaker group that has worked for immigrant rights in Iowa for over two decades.

On 09-03-17 at approximately 4:05 am Scott Emergency Communications received a 911 call reporting a single vehicle accident in the 9000 block of 140th St. Scott County Sheriff’s Office, along with Blue Grass Fire Department, MEDIC Ambulance, Buffalo Police Department, Scott County Conservation Officers, and Iowa State Patrol responded to the scene.

WASHINGTON – Preliminary data provided by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services in response to recent inquiries from the House and Senate Judiciary Committees indicate that the Obama administration allowed thousands of DACA recipients to exploit an immigration law loophole to obtain green cards. The data also show that more than a thousand DACA recipients have already obtained citizenship.

WASHINGTON – Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley of Iowa and Senator Mike Lee of Utah are again inquiring about the abuse of an immigration law loophole that allows unauthorized immigrants to obtain a green card and, eventually, U.S. citizenship. The two senators previously wrote to the Obama administration on this issue in March 2016.
