International Gent Claims Mr. Legs Title at Iowa State Fair

DES MOINES, IA (08/14/2017) (readMedia)-- John Johansson of Stockholm, Sweden was awarded the Overall Champion title in the Mr. Legs contest held Saturday on the Bud Light Stage at the 2017 Iowa State Fair.

Beyond overall leg appearance, several leg divisions were judged during the contest, including tannest, hairiest and thinnest legs.

Walstrom Wins Needlepoint Honors at Iowa State Fair

DES MOINES, IA (08/14/2017) (readMedia)-- Solveig Walstrom of Cedar Rapids received Best of Show and Sweepstakes honors in the Needlepoint division of the Fabric and Threads contest judged prior to the start of the 2017 Iowa State Fair.

Contestants were judged on design, workmanship and finishing.

WASHINGTON – Sen. Chuck Grassley and Sen. Ron Wyden are asking the Trump administration to add the topic of individuals with disabilities to discussions on promoting apprenticeships.  The president in June established a task force on apprenticeship expansion to “identify and provide a report on strategies and proposals to promote apprenticeships.”

CHICAGO (Aug. 4, 2017) – Springfield native Sam Pfister has been named Director of Federal Affairs in Washington D.C. As director, Pfister will be working closely with Congress and the Executive Branch to ensure Illinois’ interests are being represented. He also will work with other governors’ offices to achieve shared goals.

Congressman John Shimkus (R-IL15), among other representatives, said Pfister will be a great addition to the governor’s team.
