A Grammy-nominated Nashville sensation whose plaudits include two Academy of Country Music Awards and a Country Music Association Award, singer/songwriter Tracy Lawrence headlines an August 15 concert event at Davenport's Rhythm City Casino Resort Event Center, the artist's many chart-topping singles including “Sticks and Stones,” “My Second Home,” “Alibis,” “Texas Tornado,” and “Time Marches On.”

With their 2023 Wandering Star praised by Americana Highways as "an upbeat celebration of commitment" and by No Depression as "a collection of songs that feel timeless right out of the gate," the country and Americana talents of Flatland Cavalry headline an August 21 concert at Davenport's Capitol Theatre, the group's recent compilation album Flatland Forever hailed by Holler Country Music as "a brilliant collection" and "a stunning mix of the old and the new."

Touring in support of their springtime release American Grin that Holler Country Music deemed "a masterpiece not only in sound but in substance," the touring country, Americana, and roots-rock artists of Jason Scott & the High Heat headline an August 19 concert at Davenport's Raccoon Motel, Holler Country adding that the group's critical smash is "a road map for this weird and wonderful ride of existence."

Hailed by Americana Highways as a duo that "kicks ass in its country-flavored bluegrass rock n’ roll hybrid," the touring talents of Teddy & the Rough Riders headline an August 20 concert at Davenport's Raccoon Motel in support of their 2024 album Down Home, a recording that Twangville hailed as "a throwback to earlier country themes without invoking the slightest hint of bro country cliche."

Housing a special event in Common Chord's “Live at 5” Free Summer Concert Series, Davenport's SkyBridge Courtyard will celebrate the weekend's Alternating Currents festival with a performance by Heads in Motion, the Quad Cities-based tribute act dedicated to free-spirited and energetic concert experiences from Talking Heads' Stop Making Sense era and the genius of Oscar, Grammy, and Tony Award winner David Byrne.

Presented as the official back-to-school pick in the venue's Garden Cinema series, the 1982 cult classic Fast Times at Ridgemont High enjoys an August 15 showing at Rock Island's Rozz-Tox, the film praised by Richard Roepner as a work that "continues to resonate as a substantial time capsule of the period," and that stands as "the best ribald teen comedy ever made."

With the program offered as part of the Davenport venue's popular "Kaffee und Kuchen" series, Iowa City-based artists, collectors, and educators David and Sarojini Johnson engage in an August 10 gallery talk on their current German American Heritage Center exhibit, the couple having spent decades sharing and practicing the art of printmaking, each with their own unique vision and inspiration.
