Iowa Finance Authority Awards More Than $10.6 Million in Federal Housing Tax Credits for the Construction of More Than 400 Rental Homes in Nine Communities

DES MOINES, IOWA (July 3, 2024) — The Iowa Finance Authority Board of Directors today awarded a total of more than $10.6 million in federal housing tax credits to support the construction and rehabilitation of a total of 404 affordable rental homes for Iowans. The awards were made to ten rental housing projects located in Burlington, Charles City, Davenport, Des Moines, Jefferson, Knoxville, Mount Pleasant, Oskaloosa, and Spirit Lake.

Marching Against the Darkness Drill Team Competition

WATERLOO, IOWA (July 1, 2024) — The annual Marching Against the Darkness Drill Team Competition takes place at the Young Arena in downtown Waterloo, Iowa, on Saturday, July 13, 2024. The doors open at 5PM and the competition starts at 6PM. They have thirteen drill teams from seven states competing for $9,000 in cash prizes and trophies.

Red, White, and Boom! Fireworks Display Set to Return July 3

DAVENPORT, IOWA (June 4, 2024) — The annual bi-state Red, White, and Boom! will be held on July 3, 2024. Family-friendly activities will take place that evening in downtown Davenport and Rock Island. At 9:30PM, fireworks will be shot, in sync to music broadcast on 97X, from two barges in the middle of the Mississippi River.

Downtown Davenport Partnership Property Improvement Grant Awards Hit Record High

DAVENPORT, IOWA (June 3, 2024) — Downtown Davenport Partnership (DDP) is pleased to announce a record $165,600 of property improvement grants were awarded to fifteen buildings in 2023-2024, leveraging over $1.6 million in private investment. Grant funds assist in the construction of downtown structural and core property improvements including tuckpointing, masonry, electrical, plumbing, demolition, architectural design, and more.
