DES MOINES, IOWA (March 8, 2023) — Governor Kim Reynolds released the following statement in response to the Iowa Senate passing her Government Alignment bill on March 7:

SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS (March 7, 2023) — The Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association (ISVMA), which represents more than 1,800 veterinarians across the state, is opposing a bill being considered by the state House of Representatives to ban a veterinary surgical procedure that is sometimes recommended by veterinarians to protect a cat’s health and well-being.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (March 6, 2023) — Scott County Auditor Kerri Tompkins wants voters in local school districts to be aware of Special Elections on March 7. “Voters in Davenport, Bettendorf, Durant and Calamus-Wheatland School Districts have public measures on the ballot,” said Tompkins. Voting Centers will be open on March 7, 7AM-8PM.

SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS (March 3, 2023) — State Representative La Shawn K Ford, Chairman of the Illinois House Appropriations Higher Education Committee, announced his proposal to provide Illinois public university students with free access to classes that prepare them for graduate-school tests and professional-licensing exams.

Rep Ford (D-Chicago), a former Chicago Public Schools teacher, said he will pursue funding in the state’s fiscal year 2024 budget for the effort.

DES MOINES, IOWA (March 2, 2023) — Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate announces the annual National Change of Address process to maintain the accuracy of Iowa’s voter-registration records is underway. Notices are being mailed to 90,948 registered voters in Iowa who have filed a change of address with the US Postal Service during the past twelve months.

“While long overdue, I am thrilled that the EPA has approved our multi-state bipartisan RVP waiver request that will pave the way for year-round E15 and bring certainty to the industry.

DES MOINES, IOWA (February 28, 2023) — The state of Iowa has selected Odyssey to administer its new Students First education savings accounts (ESAs).

Governor Kim Reynolds signed the Students First Act into law on January 24, 2023. The program will provide K-12 students who attend accredited private (non-public) schools in Iowa with educational funding equal to “per pupil” funds allocated annually to Iowa’s public schools. It goes into effect for the 2023-2024 school year.
