With Blues Rock Review calling her “a captivating artist with a new take on a familiar genre” and Rock and Blues Muse labeling the musician “a gutsy and emotionally charged singer with a vocal range to die for,” award-winning blues rocker Danielle Nicole brings her Kansas City outfit to Common Chord's Redstone Room on August 2, when the Davenport crowd will be treated to the talents that made 2018's Cry No More a number-one smash on Billboard's Top Blues Albums chart.

With the singer/songwriter's self-titled debut described by Entertainment Focus as a work that is "steeped in classic sounds but works in the modern, and vast, landscape of the genre," country artist Jake Worthington headlines his first concert event at Davenport's Raccoon Motel on July 28, as the critically lauded talent wraps up a tour that has taken him from Tennessee to Texas to Missouri to Iowa over the span of eight days.

Returning to the area for its incredible 103rd year, an eagerly awaited six-day festival boasting games, competitions, vendors, and concert sets by more than two dozen national and local acts returns with the 2023 Mississippi Valley Fair, its August 1 through 6 engagement at Davenport's Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds boasting, as always, grandstand performances by chart-toppers, multi-platinum sellers, and multiple-award winners.

Returning to downtown Davenport for the 49th time, the Quad-City Times Bix 7 will again find runners and walkers taking on a seven-mile foot race alongside live bands and cheering crowds, the July 29 event famed for being the largest non-marathon race in the Midwest, having captured the imaginations of thousands upon thousands of enthusiasts from both the United States and countries around the globe.

Held in conjunction with both the annual endurance test the Quad-City Times Bix 7 and the national biking event RAGBRAI, a brand-new, two-day party will debut on July 28 and 28 in BixBRAI weekend, with attendees treated to activities and live music throughout east, central, and west downtown Davenport locations spanning from the Rock Island Arsenal Bridge to Centennial Park.

A terrifically popular touring comedian whose credits include the release of three comedy albums and guest-starring on the Emmy Award-winning Inside Amy Sxchumer, Mark Normand performs four individual standup sets at Davenport's Raccoon Motel, his July 29 and 30 shows treating audiences to the talent whom, in 2019, was recognized by Jerry Seinfeld as "the best young up-and-coming comic that we should keep our eyes on.”

Delivering a blend of local history, environmental issues, education, entertainment, and fresh air, Davenport's River Action will again present a series of outdoor presentations in the third and final collection of the annual Channel Cat Talks and Riverine Walks: weekly programs that, from August 1 through September 2, will address such topics as plastic pollution, commercial fishing, Nahant Marsh, and the "creepiness" of the Quad Cities.

Returning to the stage for the first time since 2019, and with their new production finally being staged after a forced delay this past March, the area's much-missed verse-theatre troupe the Prenzie Players is set to make a romantic-comedy splash at Davenport's Village Theatre with their August 3 through 6 presentation of Much Ado About Nothing.

Following last summer's delights of their Aristophanes adaptation The Frogs, area-comedy favorites T Green and Calvin Vo – founders of local theatre company Haus of Ruckus – will lend their formidable skills and wild invention to another Aristophanes work during the July 22 through 30 run of The Wasps, delivering another take on classical-Greek comedy sure to delight both fans of, and newcomers to, Genesius Guild's long history of season-ending slapsticks in Rock Island's Lincoln Park.

A beloved Stephen Sondheim masterpiece whose most recent Broadway return earned the show a Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical last month, the fairytale tragicomedy Into the Woods completes Countryside Community Theatre's 2023 season, its July 28 through August 6 run demonstrating why this consistent awards magnet and critical smash was lauded by Variety magazine as a show that “brilliantly hits every hilarious or somber note it needs to.”
