The Addams Family 2 (PG; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, Regal Moline, Marcus Sycamore Cinema) - This follow-up may be nastier, and consequently less kid-friendly, than the helmers' bland 2019 precursor, but happily, this one has a legitimate point-of-view. IMDb listing.

Becoming Cousteau (PG-13; FilmScene at the Chauncey) - IMDb listing.

Bergman Island (R; FilmScene at the Chauncey) - IMDb listing.

Dune (PG-13; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, Regal Moline, FilmScene at the Chauncey, Marcus Sycamore Cinema) - IMDb listing.

Hail Satan? (not rated; FilmScene at the Chauncey: Thursday, October 28, 7 p.m.) - IMDb listing.

Halloween Kills (R; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, Regal Moline, Marcus Sycamore Cinema) - Even with a gun pressed to my head – or, more fittingly, a knife pressed to my abdomen – I'd be hard-pressed to cite which element of this horror sequel was its most inane. IMDb listing.

The Harder They Fall (R; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX) - IMDb listing.

Howl's Moving Castle (PG; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX) - Hayao Miyazaki's animated adventure is dazzlingly detailed and has a rich storyline, and it should be seen, even though I wish its characters were more beguiling. IMDb listing.

The Hunger (R; FilmScene at the Chauncey: Saturday, October 23, 10 p.m.) - IMDb listing.

Lamb (R; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, FilmScene on the Ped Mall) - This Icelandic freakout by debuting writer/director Valdimar Jóhannsson is like a more pastoral version of The Witch with nearly all the focus on a cuddly Black Phillip. IMDb listing.

The Last Duel (R; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, Regal Moline, Marcus Sycamore Cinema) - Ridley Scott's admittedly well-crafted Medieval drama remains oddly unsatisfying – a tale of the past too-awkwardly trapped in the present. IMDb listing.

The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (PG-13; FilmScene at the Chauncey: Friday, October 22, 9:30 p.m.) - Wes Anderson's underwater comedy has too many subplots for its own good, but nearly all of them are amusing, and the performers are a joy to watch. IMDb listing.

The Metropolitan Opera: Fire Shut Up in My Bones (not rated; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, Marcus Sycamore Cinema: Saturday, October 23, 11:55 a.m.) - FathomEvents.com.

No Time to Die (PG-13; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, Regal Moline, FilmScene on the Ped Mall, Marcus Sycamore Cinema) - The 25th James Bond is more of the same – and at 163 minutes, a lot more of the same – but with heightened yet human-scale threat, as well as an emotional urgency that makes the old feel close to new. IMDb listing.

Purgatory (not rated; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, Marcus Sycamore Cinema: Monday, October 25, and Thursday, October 28, 7 p.m.) - FathomEvents.com.

RiffTrax Live - Amityville 4: The Evil Escapes (not rated; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, Marcus Sycamore Cinema: Tuesday, October 26, 7 p.m.) - FathomEvents.com.

Ron's Gone Wrong (PG; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, Regal Moline, Marcus Sycamore Cinema) - IMDb listing.

Shang-Chi & the Legend of the Ten Rings (PG-13; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, Marcus Sycamore Cinema) - Marvel Studios' latest is prototypical origin-story world-building to its teeth, but it isn't entirely unenjoyable. IMDb listing.

The United States of Insanity (not rated; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX: Tuesday, October 26, 7 p.m.) - IMDb listing.

The Unnamable (R; FilmScene at the Chauncey: Wednesday, October 27, 10 p.m.) - IMDb listing.

The Velvet Underground (R; FilmScene on the Ped Mall) - IMDb listing.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage (PG-13; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, Regal Moline, Marcus Sycamore Cinema) - A mess of a comic-book adventure, but unlike the first film, this Venom does have its moments. IMDb listing.

Wheel of Fortune & Fantasy (not rated; FilmScene at the Chauncey) - IMDb listing.

White Nights (not rated; FilmScene at the Chauncey: Sunday, October 24, 6:30 p.m.) - IMDb listing.
