Wow, here’s a little bevy of surprises that tumbled into my Quad Cities-themed Bandcamp feed from seemingly out of nowhere. Well, specifically from ye olde Davenport. Keep the sieve open while you’re panning for Bandcamp gold and you’re gonna find some 24-karat nuggets in there before long, no matter where you look.

Performing locally in support of their 2020 sophomore album Green Room and its singles including “Bend,” “Ain't No Sunshine,” “Seize,” and “Underground,” the sibling punk rockers of Radkey play a November 5 concert at Davenport's Raccoon Motel, the young musicians praised by Atwood magazine for their “thick, slick rock and roll sound built on power chords and hypnotic vocal melodies.”

Lauded by Rolling Stone for delivering “the kind of sun-through-clouds loveliness that's been picking up indie rockers' spirits for ages,” the alternative rockers of Nada Surf headline a November 12 concert at Davenport's Raccoon Motel, with the band's most recent album Never Not Together described by Pop Matters as “the best record Nada Surf have made in quite a while, as it sees the indie-rock/power-pop group stress the need for more empathy in the world.”

A quickly rising Nashville star takes the stage at The Rust Belt on November 12 when the East Moline venue hosts an evening with country singer/songwriter Micthell Tenpenny on his “To Us It Did Tour,” the artist famed for his introductory album Telling All My Secrets and its breakout single “Drunk Me,” a chart-topping, double-platinum-selling smash.

With the artist's new CD It's Fine set for release on November 1, singer/songwriter and guitarist Molly Durnin headlines a November 11 concert in Davenport's Redstone Room, the musician praised by Audio Fuzz as “a talented indie songstress with musical integrity and artistic vision” whose “Jewel-esque fusion of folk flavor and pop melodies” delivers “a wild yet relaxing ride.”

Performing in support of their second album Tell Tale Heart which recently debuted at number seven on Billboard's Blues Albums chart – the gifted Quad Cities musicians of the Avey Grouws Band headline a November 12 concert at Davenport's Redstone Room, demonstrating why Goldmine praised their new release for its “adept arrangements, clear confidence, and a decidedly agile approach as far as the shifts in style.”

Chart-topping touring artists whose accolades include eight GMA Dove Awards and 10 Billboard decade Awards for their 2000-2009 output, the contemporary-Christian indie rockers of MercyMe bring their national tour to Moline's TaxSlayer Center on November 11, the group's repertoire boasting such number-one singles as “I Can Only Imagine,” “Even If,” “Best News Ever,” and “In the Blink of an Eye.”

With Uproxx calling their most recent album a showcase for “some of the band's most intense and driving music to date” and Pitchfork deeming it their “most expansive statement yet,” the critically lauded rockers of Protomartyr play Davenport's Raccoon Motel on November 10 in support of their 2020 release Ultimate Success Today, a recording that inspired NPR to rave of the musicians, “I don't think they needed to level up, but boy, did they.”

Delivering a thrilling repertoire of compositions inspired by poetry and literature, the Quad City Symphony Orchestra continues its Masterworks season with the musicians' second showcase for 2021-22: Fantasies & Fables, November 6 and 7 presentations held at the Adler Theatre and Augustana College's Centennial Hall that will be highlighted by renditions of Frederick's Fables narrated by esteemed poet, author, and performance artist Shellie Moore Guy.

With Pitchfork magazine praising his most recent solo album Beast Epic as one in which its artist “never sounded more in control” and performs “some of the best singing of his career,” lauded folk-rock musician Sam Beam – better known by his professional moniker Iron & Wine – plays Davenport's Raccoon Motel on November 6, the artist's 2017 solo recording extolled by The Quietus as “a long, warm, healing embrace.”
