ROCK ISLAND – Broadway Historic District will host a Great Unveiling event on Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017, at 4 p.m. at the private residence of Josh Brueggen, 930 20th St., Rock Island.

The Great Unveiling, organized by the Broadway Historic District Association, is a nationally recognized program. Typically, 30 to 50 neighborhood volunteers pitch in to tear, pry, and pull unoriginal artificial siding off houses to reveal beautiful architectural details beneath.

OAK BROOK – Gov. Bruce Rauner today reaffirmed his commitment to the state’s transportation industry in a speech at the Illinois Road and Transportation Builders Association Conference. The meeting was devoted to innovative project delivery methods in Illinois. 

(DES MOINES) – Gov. Kim Reynolds and Lt. Gov. Adam Gregg announced participation in a new nationwide first responder network at their administration’s weekly press conference Tuesday. Iowa is one of the first states in the country to opt-in to the FirstNet cell network. The network gives priority to police, fire and other emergency workers during a crisis.

Keep Iowa Beautiful (KIB) has partnered with the East Central Intergovernmental Association (ECIA) and the Grant Wood Mississippi River Region (GWMRR), which includes Dubuque, Jackson and Jones counties, in the successful Hometown Pride program. The 13 communities of Anamosa, Asbury, Bellevue, Cascade, Dubuque, Dyersville, Farley, Maquoketa, Monticello, Peosta, Preston, Stone City and Sabula are active participants in this region.

The Iowa and Illinois departments of transportation are holding two public meetings to discuss Phase 2 of construction on the I-74 Mississippi River Bridge project. Attendees can get information on the construction schedule, road closures, what to expect during construction, environmental efforts to date, and ways to stay in the know.

Washington, D.C.  – Congressman Dave Loebsack today announced that the City of DeWitt Fire Department will receive $133,629 in funding from the Department of Homeland Security’s Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) Program. The funding will be used to purchase breather packs and replacement parts for breather packs. Congressman Loebsack has been a longtime supporter of the AFG program.
