Join us for a discussion with Dana, a North High School alumna, on Thursday, May 30, 6PM, at Fairmount (3000 N Fairmount St) led by the awesome staff of LOVE Girls, a local girls empowerment-organization and magazine. MUSCATINE, IOWA (April 17, 2019) — The 18th Amendment went into effect in 1920, prohibiting anyone from selling, manufacturing, importing, or exporting liquor. With its statewide prohibition in 1916, Iowa was one of the three key prohibition states that led the movement. Iowa author and historian Linda McCann will present on Prohibition in eastern Iowa on Thursday, May 2, at the Muscatine Art Center.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (April 17, 2019) — Commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Invasion of Normandy during World War II by joining Kevin Braafladt, as the Army Sustainment Command Deputy Historian at the Rock Island Arsenal, in discussing the turning of the tide in the Pacific theatre and the Battle of Midway. The lecture will be held Wednesday, May 8, at 2PM at Eastern, 6000 Eastern Ave. 

ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (April 16, 2019) — Members of the Quad City Botanical Center are invited to our annual Egg Hunt this Saturday, April 20, 8-10 AM. Bring your basket to fill with goodies and enjoy the outdoor hunt.

Four groups will gather for the 9AM hunt sorted by age: 0-2, 3-4, 5-7 and 8-12.

Crafts and games are included as our way of saying thank you for being a member of the Botanical Center.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (April 12, 2019) — Applications are now available for the 2019 Mississippi Valley Fair Queen Contest.

The winner of the contest will reign during the Fair, which is being held July 30 to August 4, and will assist with various fair activities during the week. The winner also will represent Scott County and the Mississippi Valley Fair at the Iowa State Fair’s queen competition. The Iowa State Fair takes place August 8-12, 2019.
