This $2,000 grant award will help us serve individuals and families at our 24 neighborhood food pantries, 3 hot meal sites and Winnie’s Place, the only emergency shelter in the Illinois Quad Cities for homeless women and children who may have survived domestic abuse.

Sales benefit Child Abuse Council during Child Abuse Awareness Month

Throughout April, Child Abuse Awareness Month, several businesses in downtown Rock Island are donating a portion of proceeds to benefit Child Abuse Council. Modern Woodmen of America, a fraternal financial services organization based in Rock Island, will match these donations, up to $1,000.

The participating businesses are:

Davenport, IA – Friendly House participates in the federally funded Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) by offering services to registered home childcare providers. Providers in Scott, Muscatine, Clinton and Cedar counties can receive reimbursement for nutritious meals and snacks provided to children in their care. Children cannot be charged an additional fee for any food served in these programs.

A grants submission deadline has been announced by The Moline Foundation. Non-profit, designated as 501(c)(3) organizations are encouraged to apply. The organizations must serve the citizens of Moline and the surrounding region, including the Quad Cities region.

Moline, Illinois - The Moline Foundation announces the appointment of a new member to its Board of Directors.
Debi Becht, Moline, will serve a five-year term as a member of The Moline Foundation Board of Directors.
A Nurse Practitioner, Becht has lived in Moline for nearly 40 years. She is also the co-founder of the Good Samaritan Free Clinic, a non-profit health clinic formerly operated in Moline and East Moline.

DAVENPORT, IOWA– During the month of February, Quad City area businesses and organizations collected funds and food for River Bend Foodbank. This year, the Community Hunger Drive engaged 51 businesses. They held a variety of activities throughout the month, including cake contests, bake sales, change wars, and chili cook-offs, to engage their employees in raising donations for River Bend Foodbank.

Rock Island, IL and Davenport, IA--Christian Care in Rock Island and the Humility of Mary, Inc. of Davenport hosted the 5th Annual Have a Heart for the Homeless Luncheon on Saturday, February 3, 2018. The event was held at CASI, 1035 W. Kimberly Road, Davenport, IA. Tickets got you a catered lunch by Biaggi’s and entertainment. A silent auction and raffle baskets was also available.

Rock Island, IL – Saturday, February 3, 2018 marked the 3rd Annual “Soup or Bowls” food drive sponsored by Discounted Furniture in Rock Island. Canned food and other donations were accepted at the Rock Island Hy-Vee located at 2930 18th Avenue, Rock Island. All proceeds benefit Christian Care, homeless men’s shelter in Rock Island and QC Paws, animal care shelter in Moline. All those who donate were entered into a prize drawing.

AMANA, Iowa-Help the Safe Haven animals by giving them a roof over their heads.

Safe Haven of Iowa County is having a Soup Supper on February 24th as a way to raise funds for the care of their animals and to repair the roof over their heads.  The soup supper includes a large variety of soups and chili as well as homemade desserts.  Price for the Soup Supper is $8 per person.
