Kids, ages two to seven, can train to become mini art masters starting in September at the Muscatine Art Center. The new program replaces Art for Tots which was geared toward preschool aged children. Mini Masters opens up the opportunity for kids through first grade to join in creating art. “This past summer I had quite a few kids return after kindergarten asking to join Tots class,” says Muscatine Art Center Program Coordinator, Teresa Stenstrup.

The first game in the National Football League was played in Douglas Park almost 100 years ago. The City of Rock Island and the Friends of Douglas Park intend to refurbish the south end of the park to commemorate that event. This includes the restoration of the 1915 firehouse as a museum recognizing the first game and the commitment of Rock Island firefighters over the years.

As a valued supporter of Metro Arts Alliance, we wanted to share some news with you: the Board of Directors and staff leadership of Metro Arts Alliance of Greater Des Moines made the difficult decision on August 16, 2017 to cease operations after almost 42 years of providing access to the arts in our community.
