Classical-music lovers, on March 5 and 6, will be invited to take a trip around the world without ever leaving the Quad Cities (or their own living rooms), as the Quad City Symphony Orchestra continues its 2021-22 Masterworks series with From East to West, a thrilling ensemble performance and showcase for QCSO concertmaster and violinist Naha Greenholz.

Adored by audiences for the show's signature reworking of popular modern music into different vintage genres, especially early-20th-century forms such as swing and jazz, the touring sensation Scott Bradlee's Postmodern Jukebox lands at Davenport's Adler Theatre on March 8, this rotating musical collective having thus far amassed roughly 1.4 billion YouTube views and five million subscribers.

Vibrantly colorful works by a Long Grove native and the retired chair of the art department of Northwest Missouri State University will be showcased at the Beréskin Gallery & Art Academy through April 27, with the Bettendorf venue housing 17 ravishing acrylic paintings of varying sizes in the exhibition Philip Laber: Dialogues Within.

Winner of the 1983 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and nominated for four Tony Awards including Best Play, Marsha Norman's haunting and affecting 'night, Mother serves as the latest student-produced theatre offering in Augustana College's 2021-22 season, a powerful work that caused the New York Times to rave, "It is Marsha Norman's profound achievement that she brings both understanding and dignity to forgotten and tragic American lives.”

One of the best-loved adventures in world literature enjoys a brand-new stage version when Davenport's Mockingbird on Main presents its March 4 through 12 run of Around the World in 80 Days, a two-actor take on Jules Verne's 1872 novel that has been adapted numerous times for the stage, radio, video games, and film, with its 1956 movie version the winner of five Academy Awards including Best Picture.

The Lightning Thief, a relatively new musical, had its QCA premiere at the Spotlight, and this production based on Rick Riordan’s YA books about a young half-blood was a delight to watch. It was just as fun and playful as the original book series – and Saturday's telling of this energetic story was inventive, theatrical, and entertaining.

An eagerly awaited exhibition featuring dozens of recent and debuting works in a variety of artistic mediums, the 2022 Rock Island Art Guild Fine Arts Exhibition will be on display at the Figge Art Museum through May 15, with the Davenport venue housing 59 works - paintings, sculptures, installations, and more - by 50 artists living within a 200-mile radius of the Quad Cities.
